28 Weeks - 7 months!!

We are at 7 months pregnant!!! My week countdown on the bottom left is down to 3 months.. it looks so much smaller than when I started it!!!

By this week, our baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Our baby weighs as much as a Chinese cabbage.
What's Goin' On:

* Baby is kicking much more. We both feel him/her a lot more from the outside. The other night I thought the baby was break dancing in there!

* I went to lunch twice with babies this week (its my school break ) :o) The first time was with the ladies from work and I have two friends that came with their baby. One baby is 11 months old and the other is 2 months. Yesterday I saw Janice and Madelyn. Madelyn is now 6 months old. All 3 babies were so good and well behaved!!! I hope my baby is taking notes in there. Here is a photo of me and Janice's baby Madelyn.* Dwight and I are going on an adventure this weekend. I will post photos soon!

* 12 MORE WEEKS UNTIL THE DUE DATE!!

Babies and Fathers

Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours!

Dear Baby,
We are getting close to the day that daddy and I meet you and I wanted to write you a little letter. I think about you all day and I can't even imagine knowing who you are. Are you a boy or a girl? What will your personality be like? Will you be silly like mommy and daddy.. a talker like daddy.. a little quieter like mommy? Will you have brown hair or blond? One thing that is for sure is that we love you so much already and can't imagine not having you in our life. We have no idea what parenting will really be like but we hope and dream of it as being the best time of our life. We promise that we will try our best and may slip up sometimes, especially during the first week or two. I can't wait to see you smile and laugh, take your first steps, dance and find all of the beautiful things in life with us along your side. I hope you find life to be as wonderful and amazing as we see it and you see how much God has blessed our family. There are a million silly little things that I can't wait to do with you such as apple picking and decorating the Christmas tree. I hope you like our cat Herman. He will be very curious to meet you I'm sure. I can't wait to see your daddy hold you and to see what a fantastic father he will be. You will love your grandparents and aunt and uncles as well. They already can't wait for your arrival.
Keep up the growing in there and know that we are all so happy to meet you in 3 more months.
We love you forever and ever xoxo,
Mommy

27 Weeks- 3rd Trimester!!

We begin the third trimester today!!! Yay!!!

This week, our baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, our baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. I may be feeling tiny rhythmic movements due to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her.

Our baby weighs as much as a head of cauliflower.

What's going on:

* I am still sleeping pretty well. I am beginning to get a bit uncomfortable but not enough to start complaining.

* We start the 3rd trimester today.. yaaay.. and next week we begin month 7!

* I am on February vacation this week. We are going to escape to North Conway for a couple nights next week for a little getaway before baby.

* People I work with and those in my crochet class commented on my belly this week :o) They said "Wow you are popping!"

Healthy Heart!

beating heart Pictures, Images and Photos

We had our echocardiograph today on the baby's heart. Everything is healthy!!! When the doctor met with us after the appointment and gave us the good news I started clapping!! We are just so happy and relieved. There is nothing better than this news. We heard the baby's heart a bunch of times (146 beats per minute) as they did different measurements. Everything in the heart was viewed and red and blue are used to view blood going in and out of the heart. Technology is really amazing. The baby did kick at us a few times during the ultrasound too :o)
Thank you for your positive thoughts and prayers.

Happy Valentines Day

26 Weeks

The network of nerves in our baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both of our voices as we chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel.

At long last, our little pierogi can see the womb! The eyelids have finally separated (they were fused closed previously) and he is probably having his first moments of sight. This is also the time where our little one's head hair is starting to grow.

Most importantly, brain tissue and neurons are all developing at a rapid pace, increasing his brain activity and will continue to function at accelerated levels for the first seven to eight years of childhood!

Our baby is as long as an English hothouse cucumber.

New with us:

* There is a case of Fifths disease going around the school community that I work in. I got tested and I am immune to it. Yay!! This virus can be dangerous to pregnant women and their fetus.

* We have our ultrasound coming up on Monday to check the areas in the heart that could not be viewed.

* We are going out to a nice dinner tonight to celebrate Valentines day. We figure this may be one of the last Valentines we can go out and have a nice dinner for a while. We are going to CR Sparks in Bedford, New Hampshire.

* I have started to force myself to slow down. I go up stairs quickly and then realize how out of breath I get. This makes me feel pregnant finally.

* The last two days I have been exhausted after school. The baby must be going through a growth spurt!

* Next week we begin the third trimester!!

25 Weeks

Head to heels, our baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight is a pound and a half and she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if we could see it, we would now be able to discern its color and texture.

This week she will be scootching slowly out of the old breech position and start rotating (already!) into a better position for exit during their birth. Her head and feet are slowly rotating so that the head is pointed down towards the birth canal.
Our baby weighs the amount of a rutabaga.
Only 15 more weeks!!!

Month 6 appointment

I had my monthly appointment yesterday. Everything looked great. The baby's heartbeat was 146 and strong :o) Baby is growing at the right rate and my blood pressure was perfect. At my next appointment we will do the glucose test. I am still waiting on the cardio doc to call us to set up our appointment. My doctor told me not to worry and she made me feel at ease about this extra ultrasound. Almost at 15 more weeks!!
