I am trying to figure out how to post videos on the blog once again. This clip was taken with my new camera. I just need to figure out how to make the clips longer than a few seconds. Anya was calling for our cat, Herman.

Vacation!

We have counted down the months, weeks, days until our lake vacation. Every year it is the highlight for my family. Last week was filled with swimming, boating, relaxation, and tons of family time. The highlight for me was Anya swimming with only floaties on her arms! We are so proud. She is a little fish in the water and every day asked for her swim suit, beach and boat. I made a slideshow of my favorite memories from the week. Enjoy!

My sister, Jill, and I brought Anya to a science center today. The best part for all of us was when Anya showed us that she can blow bubbles all by herself!

Anya loves the childrens band, They Might Be Giants. I recommend it if you are a parent. They have an album on numbers, an album on letters, and more. One of her favorite songs is called, High 5. Here she is singing along:

Anya started dancing at a fair over the weekend. After I filmed this she started to get a crowd watching her hehe..

open, shut, open, shut

I took this video on Wednesday of this week. She loves to stand at her toy basket and open and shut it over and over :)

lovie

I bought Anya a lovie (blankie) when she was only a couple months old. I put her to bed with it nightly hoping she would associate it with sleep. When we travel we bring it with us so that she has something that reminds her of her crib at home. Until this week I hadn't noticed that she actually was getting attached to it. Now when I pick her up from her crib the lovie comes with us. I have been trying to keep it in her room so I usually change her and then throw the lovie back in the crib and tell her that is where it goes. Today Anya fell and bumped her head while trying to walk. She was really crying so I gave her the lovie and it erased the tears. She sat on the couch with it chewing and putting it up to her face. If you look close at it you can see the corners are chewed on. If she continues to be attached I will go buy another one just in case we lose this one. After she recovered from the falling incident I went upstairs with her to put it back in the crib. She immediately started crying. She was never a lover of a pacifier or her thumb so this might be her thing. :)

Here is a quick video from her taking a couple steps yesterday. It is really hard to video and make sure she doesn't fall at the same time. I figured out that it was harder for her to walk on the grass than on the carpet and floor. She ends the video with a tumble.

finding her tongue

Last night at dinner Anya found her tongue. I was being silly with her and I stuck my tongue out. She copied me and then she started moving it left and right inside her mouth. I was belly laughing while watching her. She continued this all through bath time and then when I went to change her. Dwight and I kept doing it back to her and she reached to grab his tongue, eww! It's so amazing to see her figuring out how to control her body.

One last story: Yesterday when I went around to get her out of the car, I opened the door and said, hi! She looked at me and said, hi! I started cracking up while telling her great job. It was the first time she has said the word hi. :-)

Hot and Sunny May weekend

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for my cousin Kerry's kids, Kaitlyn and Joshua. They had a blow up jump castle in the backyard but I figured Anya is a little to young for it. Anya had a fun time playing with the girls...
Today we headed to Beech Hill Farm to see the animals and get ice cream. Temps reached the mid 80s both days!

She is going through a growth spurt because she has been drinking more formula than usual and today both naps were 2 hours long. After she woke up from her afternoon nap we set up the baby pool. It was the BEST to watch her splash and laugh..

learning more every day

In the last day Anya has started to balance a lot better and now loves to walk holding onto my hands. Yesterday she let go and stood by herself for 5 seconds! Here is a video of her using the walker this afternoon. She did even better when I wasn't filming but I kept having to get close in case she fell... which she did, twice.
