New mom revelations..

Here are 10 fun things I have learned as a new mom..

10. Put a diaper on immediately after a bath and have one ready at all times when changing.

9. Baby talk and singing to her is actually fun and makes me sound neurotic to others I'm sure.

8. Baby fluffy hair is so soft and wonderful... and baby chubby cheeks.

7. They grow so so so fast!! Every day she seems to be learning and growing stronger. It is the most amazing thing to be there to see every change and I get so excited for the hours, days, months, years ahead. If I could just slow down time to enjoy it an extra minute longer.

6. How much work being a mommy is. Caring for her and the home is constant with hardly any breaks.. but so worth it. Some days I am covered in spit up, feel like breaking down, then I give her a bath and realize how I wouldn't trade it for anything.

5. She makes me laugh so much and she can't do much yet. Just her facial expressions and sounds can get me belly laughing.

4. I am not a 'pink' person but having a girl has made me one.. at least for baby clothing.

3. I would do anything for her.. anything. I feel guilty about silly things just because I want her life to be the best that it can be.

2. It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would to get up often at night. It must be instinct.

1. The love I have for her is immeasurable. It is so strong that I can't put it into words. If you are a mom you know what I'm talkin' about ;-)

Lobster Dinner

Yesterday was Anya's first time at church. After church we went to my parents house for lobsters! The lobsters were very yummy! Thank you mom and dad for the delicious meal and fun time. :o)

Visit to Anya's Auntie Jill

Anya and I went to my sisters house for a visit on Thursday with my mom. We went out for Mexican food and stayed the night. We had a great time. The next day we drove down to Newport, Rhode Island for some shopping and lunch. We had lots of fun girl time! Oh and Anya is now 5 weeks old!

Shopping Time

This is Anya out shopping with my mom and me. I had a doctor appointment today and my mom watched Anya while I went. Anya got some great Nana snuggle time. After my appointment we went to the Christmas Tree Shop so that I could get some albums to hold all the photos I keep taking of the little pierogi.

Bath time

Anya doesn't cry at bath time anymore. She seems to enjoy it! Here is Anya chill-axin after her bath today :o)

Dwights 1st Fathers Day!

Dwight had his first Fathers Day today. Anya and I gave him a dress shirt for work, a new RedSox hat, two books about dads that he can read to Anya, and a book about dads and daughters for him. Anya also gave him her own special card that had photos of her all over the front. He can bring it to work for his desk. We went down to Wrights Chicken Farm to have dinner with his whole family and had a great day. We stopped at my parents house on the way home to wish my dad a Happy Fathers Day and give him some grandaughter time :o)

1 Month Old!!

Happy 1 Month Anya!! She is still her adorable little self making us smile every day. She has been sleeping in her crib .. still waking about every 3 hours to eat. She is such a great baby and only fusses when she is hungry so far. She is still wearing size newborn clothing but we just moved her over to size 1 diapers. She makes the funniest noises and is still giving out some smiles here and there. She moves around a lot in her crib. I went in to get her this morning and her head was all the way down in the middle of the baby positioner so I took it away. She likes to kick around before and after she sleeps. She has started to really love her full sized swing.

Rockin' Rib Fest

We went to the Rockin Rib Fest in Merrimack on Saturday. It was held at the Anheuser Busch Brewery. We brought Dwights cousin Brian and his wife Jess who were visiting from Alabama. We had some yummy ribs! It was a great time and we are so happy they came up to visit us in NH.

My 28th Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated my birthday by going to the ocean for the day. Dwight took the day off and we headed to Portsmouth, NH with Anya. We went out for nachos (my favorite food) and then walked around in the little stores. The rain stopped once we had our nachos and the rest of the day was just cloudy with a little mist here and there. Anya used her Bjorn (baby carrier) for the first time. She passed out in it once we got it on right and tightened the straps. We then headed up the coast to Kennebunkport to walk around. We ate dinner at a cute seafood restaurant called The Warf. Anya was an exceptionally great baby all day. We agree that she is almost easier while we are out and about. She loves the car, stroller, and now the bjorn. We drove home down the coast and looked at the huge waves. It was an amazing view!

4 Weeks

Anya is 4 weeks old today!

* The other night we put her in her crib to 'nap' while we ate dinner. She was so content that I left her there when I went to bed. I brought the monitor into our room and she slept in her crib all night (waking approximately every 3 hours to eat). We are going to continue to let her use her crib unless she is having a fussy night and we will use the bassinet. I would love for her to get used to the crib earlier than have trouble with an adjustment later.

* She is beginning to smile! I would not call it full on smiling yet. She smiles back at me once in a great while and on her own a lot more. My mom and I tried to catch a photo of it the other day but the smiles come and go so fast!

* I went to my work today for a surprise visit to see all my Bow Elementary friends. It was so nice to see everyone and they loved meeting Anya! I spoke with my principal about not coming back in the fall to stay at home with Anya. Her exact words were "I applaud your decision". I thought that was great since I was a little nervous to have that discussion.

Yesterday we had some close friends over for a Meet and Greet Anya cookout. We had a wonderful time and the weather was great. Our friends spoiled Anya with gifts and she got to see her little friends Madelyn, Billy and Ella!

life is good

I am feeling great and I am just so happy with our new little love. I think the bit of baby blues that I had the first couple weeks have totally gone and I am back to my old self. It feels wonderful :o)

3 Weeks Old

Happy 3 Weeks Anya!!

She is focusing more and using her neck to look around a little more as well. We call her our milk monster because she loves to eat. We have been giving her a pacifier once in a while so that she doesn't overeat (which leads to massive spit up) just for the extra 'sucking' time.

Playtime

Anya and I have a little playtime and a walk every day. I can't wait for her to interact with all her toys that her family and friends got her. She loves her play mat and bouncer!

Happy Birthday Uncle Eddie!

Grammy, Great Grammy and Uncle Eddie visit

Today Anya's Grammy (Dwights mom), Great Grammy (Dwight's grandma), and Uncle Eddie (Dwight's brother) came up for a visit. We cooked on the grill and Anya got lots of attention from her family :o) We were also celebrating all three of their birthdays that are this week.

First Pediatrician Appointment

Yesterday Anya had her first appointment with her pediatrician. She is up to 7 lbs 9 oz! She is 21 inches long. We are very happy with her weight gain. The doctor said to keep doing whatever we are doing :o)

Anya is getting more fun each day. She looks around the room and makes funny faces. She gets mad when you take her bottle out to burp her. She loves to eat. :o)

She is eating about 3 oz every 3 hours. Sometimes she is hungry again after one hour and sometimes she eats only 2 oz or a whopping 4 oz :o)

2 Weeks Old

Anya is 2 weeks old today!!! She seems more alert and she looks around more. She seems a little stronger already too :o)
