Anya's whale

My sister is a wonderful artist. She made this whale 2 piece artwork for Anya's room. We love it! She stitched the whale pieces onto a painted canvas.
I went in to Anya's room to get her after her nap the other day. Anya said, Herman Herman! (she does say his name well now, usually it sounds like Hermaa or Hermy) when I came in the room. I looked to where she was pointing to see our cat sleeping under the glider. Herman was hiding in her room while she took a 2 hour nap. I think he missed her while we were gone on our beach weekend. :) It's so neat that she can communicate things to me now. This is her pointing to where the cat was hiding..

This first video includes Herman stuck between her walker and the stove. Don't feel bad for him because I could hear him purring from across the room. He secretly loves her dearly. Listen for her saying 'cat' too.



This second video shows her petting Herman. She is so disappointed when Herman has had enough. He had been sitting there for a while because I had time to grab my camera and hit play.

Anya is in LOVE with cats. Every time Herman walks by she screeches. He runs like the wind from her high pitch squeal. She chases him in the walker and if he is somewhere she can't get (see picture of him on the stairs) she will just sit and look at him and chirp. It is hilarious. When we are eating dinner together at the table, Herman sits in the window in front of the table. When Anya sees him during the meal she yells out at him at the top of her lungs. I'm not kidding when I say the top of her lungs. Tonight it almost hurt my ear with its volume. Today we went to Meg's house for a play date. Anya noticed one of her cats and was doing her squeals while staring at her. Every time the cat walked by Anya would laugh and yell. I brought her over to the cat and she pet her so nicely. She is going to grow up to be the crazy cat lady.

Anya chases Herman around the house and even searches him out. This video is her finding him hiding behind the curtain.

Best Friends

When we brought Anya home in May our cat Herman was curious about her for a moment and then didn't care for her. He didn't love or hate her.. he just ignored her. Over the past 7 months he has grown to love her. Now they are best buds. When we play upstairs, Herman is upstairs. When we go downstairs he follows us. He sits an arm length away from her so she can smile and laugh at him without grabbing at him. He lets her pet him. We try and make sure she doesn't grab at his hair but she has once or twice and he has just sat there and let her. She adores him and I think he adores her.

Hibernation

Tonight Dwight was wondering where Herman was. He went looking for him. I heard him call to me to go upstairs to see where he found the cat. Hoping Herman was NOT in the crib, I grabbed the camera. Thankfully, he was nowhere near the crib and this is what Dwight had found... a big lump in our bed. I took a picture and then we lifted the blanket to see if he was okay. What a silly cat, he must have been cold.



Anya loves to look at Herman so I have been pointing to him and saying 'cat'. I swear she has repeated 'd-at' after my 'cat'. Wouldn't it be funny if cat becomes her first word winning over dada and mama? Anya does say dada now but we aren't sure if she understands what she is saying or if she just likes to hear herself say 'dada', 'dadadada'.. sometimes it sounds like 'daddy'. She has spent the past couple days repeating it all day, sometimes loud and sometimes in a quiet little whisper. I love the little whisper and I usually whisper 'dadadada' back at her. We do love her dada so why not share our little secret together? :)
