This is our third year of spending labor day weekend with a bunch of our friends in Maine. We all go up to Old Orchard beach to stay the weekend. There were around 13 of us that went up. This year was obviously the first year with Anya as well. Our car was packed to the roof (literally.. look at the picture!) :o) We had such a great time and may stay for 3 nights next year. Anya had a couple of little friends. There is Billy who is 15 months and Ella who is 8 months. Next year Billy will have a little sibling making it 4 little ones :o)
We started out the vacation with lunch at a restaurant called "Surf 6". It is right on the beach with an outdoor deck and a band. Anya liked our hotel. She did such a great job on vacation. Dwight and I were kind of nervous about bringing her away. We were worried about bedtime and how she would do. She did great!
After lunch we hit the beach! :o)
The second day we went to the beach all day and we had a great time. The air was cooler but the sun was bright. We set up Anya's little tent. Before I got her in the tent I kicked sand all over her face by mistake! I felt so horrible but she didn't cry and we got it all off of her. She took naps on the beach and it was such a great day. I think it was my favorite day of all time at Old Orchard. The cutie in the white hoodie is Ella. :o)
This cutie in the hat is Billy. His mommy Erin is with him in the picture. She is due to have another baby in March. We are very lucky to have friends with children. Next year they will all be running around together on the beach!
My favorite time of day at the beach is late afternoon/early evening. We poured a beer for each of us and sat in our beach chairs. Anya was taking a little snooze and it was so very relaxing. We headed out to dinner after this with Dwight's brother and Anya and then walked the pier. It was such a fantastic weekend. I wasn't ready to leave today but we headed back :o) Anya slept almost the whole ride home and then after she ate and was changed fell back asleep for a 4 hour nap at home! I am not sure if I should let her sleep this long but she must be exhausted from all the excitement! She is still napping but I'm sure she will wake shortly. It was a great time and I was surprised at how well Anya did... hooray :-D Of course she enjoys vacation.. her mommy and daddy love it too.
